Especially Bob and the crew coming in drunk to order pizza - that is the top scene of prime time television.
The entire show, from opening music to closing every episode was a delight.
I don't know that I had a crush on Bob Newhart, and Suzanne Pleshett - but maybe it was a crush on them together.
The different ways the people on the show said Bob also stands out, Suzaann - "now, Bob." and then the way Tom Posten's character said Bob and his breathless hurried comment surrounding the Bob and then Jerry coming in with an idea and also Carol, the way she greeted Bob and Jerry. Just everything from the slightest comment to the most planned skit kept my attention.

Can anyone tell me the name of the episode where Jerry is convinced (and of course very worried about the fact) that one of his arms is shorter than the other? I'm remembering this episode as exceedingly funny, but since Jerry was the subplot, I can't find it.
thanks
thanks
Suzanne Pleshette's Emily was the perfect straight guy for Bob and company. I loved the guys-only Thanksgiving episode. Suzanne's comic timing was perfect, arriving home to find Bob, Howard, Jerry, and Mr. Carlin drunkenly over-ordering a Chinese take-out. Bemused but never angry, "I'll make the coffee." Emily always came across as the most intelligent character in any given scene. A nice change from the bubble-brained female leads of the 50's and 60's. I especially loved Emily's chemistry with Howard. Thanks for the laughs, Suzanne!
James, I agree that Suzanne was a class act. Wouldn't it be great if we could all wake up next to Suzanne Pleshette- and have her tell us that the news of her passing's all a dream brought on by Japanese food? Even though it would be nice to think you're back with Tom Poston and the two of you are having good laughs again, we're going to miss you, Suzanne. RIP!
Never jumped! My favorite exchange is when Emily is reading a letter Bob is composing on her behalf.
Emily: Bob, if you're going to write an anonymous letter, don't use personalized staionery.
Bob: I wasn't going to sign it.
Pure genius!

The show never jumped. The cast that comprised his patients was fantastic. As for the next door neighbor? I like Bill Daily as an actor, but I don't really see much of a difference between the characters he played as Howard Borden and Major Roger Healey (I Dream of Jeannie). I suppose the same could be said about Bob Newhart. In all the shows he has been in, regardless of character, IMO, he acts the same. It isn't a criticism. Just something I find interesting.
I'll admit the last season when Bob is gone a lot isn't as good as the rest, but this show never ran out of steam. No shark was jumped.
A great comedy show, the third season probably the best of the lot. I never liked the Howard Borden character. The actors commenting about him on the DVD sets tell us that he was goofy because of jet lag. Nonsense, he was a moron and an a--hole. He would have been easier to take if the writers had made him a shoe salesman or an assistant manager in a drug store. But a commercial airline navigator!?
Check out the commentaries on the DVD sets, really great stuff.

The episode asked about on July 30 was "Who is Mr. X?" from the fourth season. It first aired November 8, 1975.
Can anyone tell me the year of the airing and/or name of the episode regarding the morning talk show, "AM Chicago" where unsuspecting Bob got snared by the interviewer. His on-air segment was followed by the nun who later called him to suggest a co-sponsored hit on the interviewer. I could not find this one on the episode listing. Thanks!
