This show was pretty good, but the season finale sucked. It really was stupid how they wrote the whole thing. I was hoping for some suspense for Booth's "death", to see him in the hospital or something. Come on! He almost died yet two weeks later he's well enough to go back to work. Yea right. Brennan's reaction was cold, and she is supposed to be really close to Booth. I thought she would cry or at least show some emotion. And Zac wasn't one of my favorite characters, but I did like him. The whole Gormagon thing was so anticipated, but the whole Zach being his apprentince thing was done in such a sloppy way that it doesn't make sense. I think that the writers dug their own grave for this one. I love Bones, but I think season 4 will be the last season, unless the writers can reedem themselves, which I highly doubt they will.
Love the Moonlighting-esque tension b/t Brennan and Booth, but Bones is on the verge of jumping if they keep Sweets on for much longer. C'mon, he's playing those 2 like cheap fiddles and everyone is letting him get away with it? Bone's gives him one teeny tiny threat?
I've been annoyed with him from the moment he showed up. Can't waaaaiiiit for him to get offed. Or fired. Or quit. ANYTHING to get him off the show!!!

I am sorry but lately this show is vast becoming shark food. In fact, I hate that Temperance character (I did enjoy her in early seasons) she's bringing down the show single handly to a almost unwatchable , unbearable level, with her frail body and pastey white skin! I mean, come on! She looks like one of those skeletons that hangs in the science lab. In the near furture, I wouldn't be surprised if the bones examining team makes a mistake and think she was a dead body.
I agree with most here... that was absolute garbage. I really do like the show but you cant take someone as "flawless" as Zach and have him make a rediculous SERIES of decisions like this. In what way can anyone ever talk someone into believing that eating people is a good thing. The only way they can save the show is if all of this was a comatosed dream of Booth... even then its pretty far fetched. Oh well I guess... I would start looking elsewhere for employment if I were the writers and I must say after this... GOOD LUCK!
Started to jump when the Cajun FBI boss forced Booth and Brennan to smooch under the mistletoe: it was so awkward and forced, it was effing ridiculous...and the ENTIRE Gormagon story arc was completely stupid. I like this show: I suffered through Ryan Effing O'Neal, and was expecting better episodes after the writer's strike was resolved, and what do they do? Feed us a sh*t sandwich...
So, they "kill" off Zach (who, in my opinion, was a likeable character), and we're stuck with...Sweets,an idiotically grinning jackass who, every time he comes onscreen, forces me to supress the urge to kick in my TV. It's not just the moronic 80's psychology that bothers me...it's the sh*t-eating grin when he delivers it. If they don't throw this "psychobabblist" in a wood chipper by the second episode next season, I don't think I can stomach any more of it.
Once again, someone took a decent show with a good ensemble cast, and in the space of a few episodes, rammed it into a toilet...I'm a little perturbed!

Season finale is without a doubt one of the most wretched, improbable, badly-constructed, illogical pieces of tripe ever seen in decades of television. Whoever wrote this must have been doing too many drugs during the strike.
This show once had charm and promise, but now the sharks are leaping about, circling back, warming up, and getting out their high-jump poles for the main event.

Season 3 does not make for compelling viewing when compared to Seasons 1 & 2. It was the 1st Howard Epps case in Season 1 that got me hooked. Season 3 had a mythical boring Gormogon thingy that bored me. The rest of the storylines for Season 3 were just average to below average. What's wrong the scriptwriters, they got the pay package they wanted & they cannot produce anything like Season 1 & 2 storylines? Writers block? Seriously, Hart Hanson should look at bringing in new & experienced scriptwriters. What kept me watching in Seasons 1 & 2 were the Howard Epps, gravedigger, corrupt FBI officers. The crimes got too domesticated in Season 3 that were so banal!
Season 4 is most likely the last season for Bones that's my gut feeling. I am betting my last dollar on it. Slotted for Wednesday with 2 other comedies, then moved to Fridays in 2009. This time no pairing with House. Good luck unless scriptwriters buck up!!!

Smacks of Moonlighting. What a piece of crap this show has become. I can remember when there was actual character development, beyond who was, or almost was, screwing whom.
Now it's all about Booth and Bones. I don't mind the idea; it's a classic take on the opposites attract story. I just want more. The show was, up until the middle of last season, an ensemble-driven show. Geez, I'm so pissed. Personally, I hope this show crashes and burns in its Wednesday timeslot, or even better when it gets consigned to the Friday pit of hell.
Bones was one of the only shows I had left, after jumping ship on Lost's buckets-o-crazy second season, and watching Smallville totally destroy canon. Thanks a bunch, Hart Hanson.

C'mon, peeps, cut them a break! Ok, so it wasn't my fave ep of all time, but it isn't beyond redemption. I think they tried to cram a two hour finale into one hour. Plus the writer's strike really screwed things up. Aside from the lack of a logical explanation as to how Zach became the Apprentice, I found the fake Booth funeral was shortchanged as well. But after three years of enjoyable viewing, I'm not about to abandon my absolute fave show.
The fact is, the show is centered on Bones and Booth and the others are just supporting characters. As long as they don't mess with B&B, I'm game. I am a hardcore Bones fan, but I'm not blind to the show's flaws.
Oh, and the person who said Brennan's character hasn't changed over the years needs to go back and watch all the eps from the Pilot to the present. Look at the Christmas ep from season 1 and the one from season 3 especially. She has grown tremendously. What you have to keep in mind is she is a very logical person who suffered a lot of painful, emotional stuff in her formative year. A person doesn't recover from that overnight. And she IS picking up on pop references and learning from Booth and the rest. Anyone who has watched all the eps and payed attention could see that.

Basically it jumped the shark when the writers felt the need to mutilate the character of Zack. Also it seems to me that Dr Brennan is the same throughout, she doesn't seem to change/grow as a character. For example being around Booth and the others you'd think she'd learn their language so to speak and be less pedantic. I won't be watching it next season.
Wow. How pissed off would you be if you were the actor who played Zack right now? They could have at least written him off with some dignity.
That season ender was a total shark jump. The miracle Booth coming back, and then the total out of character Zach story line. Argh. Not sure I will watch the next season, that really pissed me off.
JN, the actor that played Zack didn't want to leave. He was just written off of the show to "shake things up". So, that makes it even worse. Poor Eric.
I stopped watching Bones midway through season 3, because it was becoming a joke and too catered to the B/B relationship. To hear all this negative response about the finale and how badly written and illogical it was, I was pleased to know that I stopped watching it. I knew this time would come. I just didn't know it would happen so soon.
IMO, the only people that liked the episode are the hardcore B/B fans. I know some of the B/B shippers are pissed about this episode, but most of the shippers don't care about anyone but what happens with Booth and Brennan. It's sad. That's why the show is crap now. Seasons 1 and half of season 2 were the best, by far. Booth and Brennan are not the only characters that can have this show survive. Without Zack, Hodgins, Angela, or Cam, they are nothing. It's in ensemble cast. Now that Zack is gone, that dynamic is ruined. I don't think they can come back from that.

Bones definitely jumped the shark with the finale of season 3. They spent so long building up the Gormagon and then wasted it. Zach being the apprentice was totally illogical and was seemingly pulled from a writers butt when the actor wanted to leave the show. Then Gormagon was barely seen, being shot in a montage scene. I really liked this show but that was absolutely the most risible piece of c**p I have had foisted on me by a show I had liked so much.
It was bad from the beginning. There was no suspense about Booth being dead as no way were they going to kill one of the main two characters. We are also supposed to believe that Booth was badly hurt enough for it to be believable to Brennan that he had died, and yet be recovered enough by the time of his funeral to be able to start a fight?
Absolutely awful. I cannot believe that there are some people on another site awarding this 10 out of 10. Have all their brain cells been killed off by reality TV, so they can't stop the gaping holes in the logic?
I'm so damned angry about having a show I cared about turn round and dump this s**t on me. It's not disappointment at having Zach leave. I liked the character but people leave shows sometimes, and I wasn't overly fussed about this character leaving. But to do it as part of this c**pheap of a storyline is just annoying as hell.
