People who think this show is more biased than Fox or CNN are so mixed up you have to wonder if they even really know what the word biased means...
it jumped when they became shills for the obama campaign. treating hilary in an unfair way and basically becoming an apologist for obama in a way they would have slammed other news organizations for in the past. they became hypocrites basically.
Anyone can make jokes about celebrities. What Jon Stewart deserves enormous credit for is the fact that he not only made politics accesible and funny, but that he re-engaged a society that was being frightened rigid by its own government. After all the "Orange Alerts" and perpetual fear of the Bush Administration, Stewart and his show, in effect, rendered much of the Karl Rove model of propaganda inneffective by pointing to it and laughing at it.
Critics who call it "liberal" are missing the point. It makes fun of whatever there is to make fun of. As Fox's disastrous conservative "Half Hour News Hour" proved, you can't go into comedy with an agenda other than truth to power. History will remember the Daily Show as being part of America's critical re-awakening following 9/11 and then Bush's mis-use of that tragic event for his own ideological ends.

The Daily Show jumped when Craig Kilborn left. He was a much funnier host than Stewart. His show focused more on the Hollywood/TV star/music & entertainment celebrity side of America. His guests were mainly actors, entertainers, comedians, etc. - in other words people that are funny.
Stewart mainly covers the Washington DC/political/inside the beltway type of news. His guests are too often politicians and hard news journalists who are not surprisingly, unfunny.
His leftist biases are annoying sometimes but that is less important than the changed focus of the show. Also Kilborn had the "Top 5 Questions". Stewart never came up with a good replacement for this.

This show was great back when it was a comedy show. Then it became a naive ultra-liberal bully pulpit. But, it's not Jon Stewart's fault that so many people mistake a failed comedian for a political expert, and take his writers' opinions as gospel.
Jon started out by holding on to the comedy over politics policy that preceded him. The show improved with the likes of Colbert and Carrell. Then, Jon started to catch bouquets from NYC liberals for sharing his (useless) political take on real issues. Hardly worth watching....is it still a comedy show?
Never jumped. People who don't get that will never understand, so I won't even argue it. Also, I believe the clip of Jon on Crossfile is still on YouTube - which is a great insight to how serious he takes the important issues & does his research compared to the people who are actual toted as real news people on real news channels.
This is not meant to be a "real" news show. Jon comments mostly on the absurdity of government action, policy, or reaction to certain events. And yes, he mugs for the camera, but that's part of his job. Also, he is actually VERY articulate, and if you've ever seen the clip of him on Crossfire, before that got yanked, you can see that when he isn't TRYING to be funny, he is very astute. This show has not jumped the shark.
To me, The Daily Show hasn't been the same since Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrell left. I just can't warm up to the new guys. And it doesn't help that "Back in Black" is hardly ever on anymore.
I liked it a lot at first but got tired of it. All the guy does is make faces. And it repeats too often. It's kind of hard to watch a repeat of a what is essentially a news driven program. It has no shelf life.
I like the show because its funny fake news. People that hate the show are obvious Fox News watchers and can go f@*k themselves. All the news channels are sh#t. CNN sucks as hard if not worse than Fox. I enjoy funny pointless humor like Family Guy and The Daily Show fills my need to laugh at things like the war and katrina.
I'm still looking to find his obituary. He isnt funny and i would hate for him to get work anywhere, even gay porn.
