I never really liked the show "Doug" at least not the first season. The animation was very crude and I always found Doug to be sort of predictable and annoying.

I think it might have improved when it switched to ABC because the characters looked better and so did the episode summaries. But I think it was the movie that really killed it, once Doug and Patty became a couple it was like..."okay, that's it? Thank you."
Ah the memories, I loved this show. I didn't watch it when it first came out, I saw weekday reruns on YTV.Doug was never cool, he was just a shy, decent, quirky guy with a big imagination. He had a quiet wisdom, yet still went through all the heartbrake of late childhood/early puberty. He wasn't brash, and often felt confused, but pulled through on sheer pluck.
That is what made Doug special.
I would like to say how much of a weenie Doug was, but I guess he was a good cartoon role model for boys in that he treated others as he would like to be treated. He wasn't hung up on conformity, either. One episode that really stuck in my mind was the one where he dreaded going to Patti's party for the longest time, all because he thought she was serious about liver and onions being served. And then he attempted to learn to like it, in preparation! Roger provided most of the cartoon's excitement. But Doug never should have been given that new megaweenie voice!
For me it was the idea of Disney's Doug... just way too many changes were done
The show jumped when it switched from Nick to ABC. One thing I liked about the old Nick version is that each episode usually consisted of two 15 stories rather than just one half hour story. Not that many programs do that anymore and I miss it now.
No need to e-mail you, Christine :), and anyway, you didn't give out your e-mail address, but it's right here on the site, Funnie [or some would say about the inevitable ABC with the "different voice",, "Doug Fungie", as in fungus].[Most likely the different voice was due to being broadcast and even maybe due to being made by Disney---Nick still showed the original.]
whats doug's last name???? e-mail me please
Roger being a bully and then being rich? Well, it was the next step (though next stop Beverly Hills, so our heroes will say Bye bye Rogers, a new villian is needed!) And regarding morality rather than p;olitcs...well....morialty plays into politcs and politics (note singular noun!) plays into morality in everything all the time, baby!
first of all how do cartoons Have puberty
I absolutely loved Doug as a kid, and I still love it as a teenager. It was just a really great and fun show. I felt like I could relate to a lot of the situations Doug dealt with, and in a way Doug kind of reminded me of myself. Plus the music was awesome!! I still loved the show just as much even after it made the switch to Disney. I thought it was cool how they adapted all the characters in a new version. I mean, it just goes to show you that not everything always remains the same. Everyone and everything changes with time. Both versions were great to me and Doug still is one of my favorite shows of all time to this day.
The robot chicken episode skit was so Doug. Mellow as usual. I wish they could bring it back, but with Billy West as Doug. How the heck can you bring back a show w/o the main character? Everones' voice was the same except his. To this day I'm still disappointed about that.
the show was brilliant. one of my faves on nick, never caught it on any other network so i cant critisize, but i cant imagine it any other way. i loved Judy, and the 1st episode where they sent him to get food and he tried to catch the nematoad was the greatest! i loved the one where they had a band!! "bangin on a trash can, drummin o a streetlight....strummin on my banjo.." DOUG PLAYED A BANJO!!! yes yes yes!! amzing show! skeeter was black, roger clotts was hott, patty mayonaises dad was in a wheel chair, their teacher was weird, they were in high school and i only recall them being in that one class, they ate at that burger place all the time [$$$$??]!, phebe is who paris hilton looked up to, the principle sounded like Barney Fife....except when he yodeled!, those nerdy kids...you know the ones with the glasses they had the sweetest music accomanying them every time you see them!!
I neverthought doug got enough credit in the nicktooniverse, Ren and Stimpy dominated MTV, and Rugrats ran rampent on Nick, Doug was better than both but just underrated, My favorite episode, number 1 when he tryed to bag the neimatoad. (KALU KO KOO)
The show jumped the moment Doug went to Disney/ABC. It was a brilliant show on Nick. It also jumped when Billy West stopped playing Doug. Oh well. Did anyone catch the robot chicken episode when Doug Funnie was in a bar? LOL
"Nickeldeon Dog=good". Of course I meant to say "Doug", not Dog. Damn typos!:) My bad.
