I really enjoyed the first few seasons, but when Drew and Kate got together it seemed like she actually cringed when she had to kiss or be really close to him. So uncomfortable to watch!
This show was one that I could relate to for the first few years. It miraculously (sp?) survived a shark jump when Kate and Oswald got together. That should have been a lesson. When they had Drew and Kate get together and Oswald and Lewis basically become gay, then it had jumped. Again, a show should only be on for a maximum for five years unless the writing is gold.
The show started off great. It was a lot of fun for the first few seasons. Then it just got stupid. The more that Mimi was featured, the worse it got -- she was good as a comic foil when he was at work, but that was enough of her. The whole weird marriage thing was awful.
I've never seen an entire episode but every time I have seen it Drew Carey is making a homosexual joke. Seemed to me a rather transparent effort to prove he wasn't gay.
This show was "cute" for a couple of years, then it became the same episode week after week, then became too cartoonish and stupid to be funny, and worst of all, Drew became a cocky jerk with more hot women than he knew what to do with. This show is nowhere to be found in syndication, but you can still find The Beverly Hillbillies, which is absolute CRAP. That's all you need to know about Drew Carey's show.
Noone mentiones that these 3 guys drank beer in almost every scene. Morning noon and night they had beer bottles in their hand. Why was that written into every scene? I guess if you had to live in Cleveland you would be a 24 hour a day drunk too. lol
There's no contest that when Kate left, and they brought in the new girl and Drew got a new job with new bosses and the new intro sucked....just EVERYTHING changed at this moment and the show was killed.
Cleveland may rock...but I much preferred Drew boogeying down the stairs to "It's A Five O'Clock World". Other than that, the show had some very amusing scenes, especially Drew and Mimi's office battles and pranks. There wasn't any particular shark-jumping episode; it just got old. That'll happen to even the best of sitcoms, and Drew Carey was better than most of its prime-time competition for a pretty long time.
The series began going down hill from season 6, But only at the begining of season 7 did it actually did the jump. I think the defining moment was when there was some sort of kung foo fighting scene between Drew and Kate ( I think episode 3 in season 7). I mean, COME ON! Every episode from that moment on was rediculess. It seems like the writers completly forgot about the characters and just decided that since they're alrady under contract for 3 more years, there's no reason to make an effort on the show.
Nevertheless, its first 5 seasons are pure genius.

Does anybody else remember the blonde girlfriend Drew had for a while? They dated a while then put her in a fat suit (her character gained a lot of weight) and they split up. Am I the only person who remembers this? She pops up a season or two later, without the fat suit. Really stupid storyline.
I honestly can't stand King of Queens myself. I'm not sure when it jumped the shark but there was a point where I got to wondering why I ever got into The Drew Carey Show. I think Whose Line is it Anyway? was Drew Carey's best show.
The show jumped as soon as Drew and Kate got together. It jumped with Kate and Oswald but actually managed to jump back. The fins were sighted again when Drew almost got married to Nicki (I think that was the name). Once he and Kate got together though, it was all over.
The show started off good but just got horrible after the first few seasons.
And what exactly is with these people and the tirades against beer drinking? Who cares? Apparently these people have never met any REAL alcoholics.
I wouldn't say this show was ever comedy gold but it was silver. Too bad silver can get tarnished over time just like this show did.

Mimi was Drew's real-life alter-ego because the only thing this guy - to this day - knows how to do is mock others to cover his own insecurity.
Series was poorly written and poorly acted. This guy benefitted by the spate of "let's give mediocre comedians their own sitcoms" series - most of which were terrible and appealed to men with arrested development problems.
The only exception was King of Queens with Kevin James. Great series. Drew Carey ia a no-talent. And this series was bad from day one.
