I believe that another cast member is leaving GH, as in being killed off. At the end of this season, Jay Mohr's character says: There are seven of us here and only six shadows. Only the person who is dead would be able to notice that there aren't enough shadows for everybody.
His character is such an asset to the show. He's funny and witty and brings out Melinda's fun side. He is also a big help to her. It would be terribly sad to see him go. I can't imagine how else they could make the shadow statement to be true.
I do like the show, though, for daring to kill off main characters. It's just sad when it happens.
I also think that the people who criticize Hewitt for her clothes and her shape are just jealous. When I was that age I showed off my best assets, too. Who wouldn't? She's young, she's got her own business, a sexy husband--more power to her!
Ghost Whisperer did not jump the shark with Andrea dieing that was written in to the show because the actress playing her wanted to persue other things. I think the way they wrote in her exit was great storytelling. I think a lot of people are having problems liking this show simply due to jealousy over Jennifer Love Hewitt. A lot of people complain about her clothes but what is she supposed to wear? I love the antique look they give her and all the time look for "Melinda Gordon" type outfits and that classic antique look really fits the character. This show is a great show. Now if you want to talk about shark jumping, in my opinion, if it happened, which I do not believe it did then it would have to be when ned aged from 8 to 13 to high school age. That was dumb but not important enough to say the show jumped the shark. I know the same formula is followed each episode but what the heck else can she do? It's going to be the same formula with different stories. She sees ghosts and helps them cross over, how can that be any different?
I think this show has completely jumped the shark. The only saving grace it has is JLH's cleavage. Cmon, I mean last season Ned was like a preteen kid, and how this season he is in High school!!!! Wow I didnt know u can make a drastic change in one season.
Also too, the writing seems extremely cliche on previous episodes (Ghost presence, JLH sees ghost hanging on person, JLH tells person theres ghost and person thinks she is crazy, JLH investigates ghost, yadda yadda yadda you get the drift). I cannot believe it just signed for another season!!
Two words: Boob Whisperer.
Delia - "I used to kiss your neck before you went to bed. That was just a second ago Ned, now you're all grown up."
How true....
A second is about right :^O
I have no idea what 'jumping the shark' is since im in Britain and watching the show online...but what the hell did they do to Ned?? Very confused...
Although I still watch and enjoy Ghost Whisperer, I agree with some of the previous posters. GW is simply becoming a one-trick pony show. The writers tried to change it by making it darker and scarier, but IMO it didn't work. GW is at its best when it sticks to the original formula....

Ghost/Spirit tries to right a wrong or reach out to love ones before passing onto the light with Melinda being their earthly conduit. The Love is shared, Big Cry is had by all, and restless spirit is embraced by light.

PS: I share a special long-distance friendship with a fellow fan; so GW is #1 for me and him.
However,photos have surfaced of JLH
on the "GW" set...somehow,this show
was not cancelled...but,its future
is still problematical...

Old saying: "Don't rest on your laurels". The wrting quality has,
unfortunately,gotten mired into
confusion...Confusion is NOT
focussed storytelling...

I'm sure a lot of people still ask:
WHAT IS THE CONTINUED APPEAL OF THIS
SHOW?

I note that James van Praagh, though,
has a very impressive track record of
writing hit shows!

It's some kind of wonder that JLH even
got this part...
As of recently, "GW" has been moved
to 9 PM. "Price Is Right" moved into
its now-old 8 PM time slot.

Also,the recent repeat "GW" episode
placed FOURTH. That's never happened
before...it HAS jumped the shark!
Just now (Feb.22,2008) a "GW" repeat
(in a different time slot) placed
FOURTH...."Price Is Right" (in "GW"
original time slot) zoomed ahead.

Although new "GW" eps. will air in
April...this is NOT a good omen for
this show!

Perhaps it finally HAS "jumped the
shark"!
I salute JLH for knowing what her audience wants to see and giving it to them! You go girl! Show it while you got it before you get too old!!
The "Love notes" suck. Tonight's episode, "Weight Of What Was", would have been a good episode, but those pop-up notes were incredibly distracting. They totally destroy any chance of the viewer suspending disbelief. While this show has often been well done, I'm afraid that with things like the new Ned, and now these "Love notes" the show is on the skids.
Can you believe this? "GW" has just
been RENEWED for another season! Since
the Writer's Strike has (unexpectedly)
ended before the series could be
cancelled....

There's no accounting for taste of
its audience. The shows have gone
downhill recently...
I think it jumped when Ned retired and joined AARP. If dog years are equal to 7 human years, what are Ned years?
True story - my wife and I only started watching this show after seeing a parody of the cleav on MadTV. Sure enough the parody was only slightly exaggerated. Long live the cleav!
