I will always love Girlfriends! The show jumped when Toni left. The chemistry was gone after that, and it seemed like Monica's character was too bent on trying to be a Tony copy cat rather than having her own voice.I did like how Mya character evolved with her book sucess and marriage. I think lynn's role epitomized the "Bi-Racial" identity crisis thing. Joan was the most mediocre of all the girls despite her suceess and towards the end I just wanted her to get married and go away.She was a ball of emtional confusion. Will kinda evolved into this male token. Still I hated to see it go!

It's really sad that another black show that started out with so much promise had to die such a painful death especially seeing the void that it leaves behind. I think the show JTS when Joan and William got together. They were much better off as friends but it really lost its heart and soul when Toni left. The relationship with the three remaining ladies just wasn't the same and i couldn't accept Monica as being one of them much less her being Wiliam's wife. No show can last forever but i wish it had taken another direction to avoid this fate. But happily i can enjoy the first few season on DVD and i always will.

The show never jumped the shark. To those whose saying the show is trying to be like Sex and the City. U were right and wrong. the show tackles issue pertaining the the black women and SATC never dealt with issues such as AIDS. And before u can comment u need to watch the show more carefully.

WRONG one episodes of SATC deals with aids and hiv and another couple deal with STDs, (crabs, chlamydia) in SATC Samantha wanted to have sex with a man who didnt want to have sex with her until she got tested for HIV or AIDS, she went in got tested and was negative

Loved this show, i stayed with it 'til the end, i didn't like how they didn't get a proper ending, after 8 seasons they def. deserved that.

The first definite sign of shark jumping would have to be when Toni left because the chemistry just wasn't the same after that. But you knew it was all downhill from there when Joan moved out of her house to live with Aaron, Lynn became a hippie and Mya miscarried her second child...and William was just runnin' out with that skank Monica (I never liked her!). I am a huge fan of the show and I would have loved to see it continue for 8 more years but I think it was obvious that all the characters were getting old and it would be harder to relate to the 20-30 yr. old market that it was originally intended for. Still, it's one of the best shows of all time in the black television!

Ok this show has definitly jumped...
1) William is corny as hell. I miss the banter he use to have withy Joan. now he is straight up boring

2)Monica is in every episode with her crazy toothy grins

3)Lynn the tragic malatto is completly talentless...i liked it when she was creating documentaries

4) Joan looks haggard and old and im tired of her being the crazy friend. She was so together before now she a old hot mess

5) Mya is keeping this show alive. oh but is it just me or is Darnell a little extra this season.

I will purchase all of their dvd's from season #1 until #8....if you are a true fan of Girlfriends then it doesn't matter if Toni is there or not, the show is about....."girlfriends" so if you have some then you can relate. It's sad though that their are alot of stupid shows on the CW network and they have lost me as a viewer, now we are down to 3 black shows on their network...what next!!!!

Thank god this show is now cancelled because ever since the 8th season begun it's been getting boring and boring and it made my year so boring that I am now so happy.

Who cares, I like the show bottom line, and I'm happy to watch as long as its aired. Although, I do miss Toni, and Joan's ass is annoying. Lynn is a secondary character period, and I'm lovin Mya, she just seems so real. And that Darnell he is just finnnnnneeeee.

Joan did not get married? She and Aaron went to Mexico but changed their miinds.

It Seems that the 8th season of girlfriends will be their last since I been to every website and it said that it was going to end after this season!!!

yea this show painfully jumped the shark and hit every damn fish i nthe sea. It aint the same without toni sexi ass, Bye bye girlfriends

It obviously jumped with the departure of Toni but another significant shark jump for me was the season premiere this past week.

I was so happy for Joan when she finally got the engagement she got engaged after all these years to a good man. But then in the season premiere, she was such a consistent bitch to Aaron that after awhile, it dawned on me that this woman doesn't deserve a good man.

Many times during the episode I wanted Aaron to take his ring back and tell her the wedding was off. And I was pissed off when he didn't allow her to continue packing her sh!t and move out of his house for good. They're writing him out of the show for awhile anyway, so this would have been the perfect way: instead of sending his character to Iraq as the writers plan to, they should just write that he grew some balls and some dignity and left because he got fed up with Joan's attitude, her mouth, and her disrespect of him.

This is reminiscent of the time she failed the marathon and got incredibly bitchy with Ellis. I wanted him to walk out of her life for good at that time too because she spoke so horribly to him.

The more you watch this woman, the more you see why all these years she never could keep a man and you end up rooting for her to lose Aaron too.

It definitely jumped when Jill Marie Jones left. There has been a hole ever since. I realize the show is called Girlfriends but somehow the kinetic chemistry left when Jill left.
