On March 19th, I posted a message regarding the two-part episode "Someone Old, Someplace New, Something Borrowed, Someone's Due". I told the reader of this post that if he or she is not clear on the moral of this episode, they should simply think back to "The Wizard of Of", "The Country Mouse and the Town Mouse" or just about half of the episodes of "The Flintstones"! Well an event that happened two days ago, makes me feel that now is a very good time to revise this topic. The event that I am talking about and that happened on May 29th is the death of Harvey Korman. He was the voice of the Great Gazoo who was very instrumental in teaching Fred and Barney the same lesson that was taught on the formentioned "Will and Grace" episode. Let us all joined in a prayer for good old Harvey's friends and family!
This show ripped off Seinfeld TIME & TIME again! There should have been some suing going on.
I think this show jumped early on, when it became clear that it would stick for more than half a season. The focus of all the comedy, and I do mean ALL, became the orientation of the characters. I mean, what a pawn, what a COMMODITY. I found it demeaning to watch, like seeing a prostitute walk down the street. Caricatures for political fodder. Sad, really.
I actually thought Michael Douglas was great in the gay cop episode. Its actually one of my favorites. Agreed the Madonna sucked, as did Demi, Geena Davis (who I like usually), Britney, JLo of course...

I LOVE the James Earl JOnes episode. I believe that was season 4?

Agree with the general consensus that Leo was the jumping point. There were some good, even excellent, shows after that, but he just sucked the life out of every scene. Although I did really like the episode where Grace met his parents - but all the credit for that goes to Messing.

Whatever, its still better then Friends any day.
i really didn't start watching the show until the last season and started watching the reruns on another channel and it did jump the last season it was on. i really didn't like the finale cause i'm like will and grace had been FRIENDS FOREVER why stop talking for 20 years?? that made no sense to me and i honestly thought that was the worse ending in history for a show like that.
I think that it is very interesting that the last poster remarked about the two-part episode in which we met Karen's mother. These two episodes together were called "Someone Old, Someplace New, Something Borrowed, Someone's Due". One premise of this situation that I found for more interesting than Karen's mother was the apartment issue. It began with Will and Grace bellyaching about how small their apartment is and how much of a hassle it is to live there. By the end of the first half, they find a bigger place that is in their price range and they are overjoyed. By the middle of the second half, they realize that the hassles of the new apartment are far more then the hassles of the old. They long for their previous over-crowded digs. This episode, in a typical and highly predictable manner makes the point of "be careful what you wish for because you just might get it." If I am not making myself perfectly clear, just think back to "The Wizard of Of", "The Country Mouse and the Town Mouse" or just about half of the episode of "The Flintstones"!
I believe W & G jumped the shark when they introduced Karen's mother. The whole premise of Karen is that you wonder where a (person) like this could ever come from! Then, to learn they were poor con artists made it even worse. We were never supposed to know Karen's age, that she was a real person with family, etc. Tragic.

Also, I love Karen and Jack, and I do not mind that they received so much screen time. I often found them much more entertaining than the two the show was named after.
Hello All
Im New...
Loved this show!!!!The only reason why Grace had to marry Leo was because she was too in love with will to find anyone else. She knew the WIll charector would never love her because he was gay. That is why she is so dependent on him
I LOVE W&G. But I do agree the multiple guest stars got to be too much. The Michael Douglas and Madonna episodes were especially hard to watch. Matt Damon did a good job, and I love the Kevin Bacon episodes.

And Karen and Jack were HILARIOUS.
The last great season of W&G was season 3. Season 4 was funny, but not nearly as good and the over the top acting of Sean and Megan made Jack and Karen beyond annoying.

I will say though that it jumped the shark when Leo entered, the dynamic changed and it wasn't as fun when Will & Grace stopped being so co-dependant on one another.

What annoyed me most about this show was Grace got to kiss and slober over both men and woman then get three long term relationships one of which ended with marriage, but Will got barely a peck and one serious relationship right at the end of the series that showed little to no intimacy, Grace even got a sex scene with Woody H's character.
Leo destroyed the great energy and ease in the series. There is ZERO chemistry between Leo and Grace to the point that shared scenes seem to drain Messing of all her zing. I wonder if the writers simply felt they had to 'marry her off'
because if karen showed any downside of alcoholism, it wouldn't be funny. the show's a sitcom. go watch intervention if you want that stuff.
Hi all,

One thing that really bugged me about the show was that Karen NEVER experirenced the repercussions of her overloaded aversion to drugs and boozw. Several times, I'd like to have seen her near comatose or even vomitting or even a victim of drunk driving, perhaps even falling down stairs. Why didn't this show have any scenes, episodes or running plotlines where Karen would experience the effects of her drug/alcohol addictions?
I really started to get annoyed of the character of jack...the only time I liked him was in scenes with karen but toward the end he got way too much screen time, even more than the two title characters..The ending was terrible...are we to believe that these two best friends would not speak for twenty years? It's depressing man!
