When Corky got "cool" and starting dating the girl who drives a car. Even Corky got an angry b*tchy wife.
Do you remember in the opening credits when everyone is leaving the house and no one feeds the dog? The dog is sitting there with the dogfood bowl in his mouth? Then, on the very last episode, at the end of the opening credits, the cupboard door next to the dog pops open and a bag of dog food falls out and spills all over the floor. The dog is fed at last! I thought that was very cute.
I have been really surprised to see that people hated the Becca/Jesse story line in seasons 3 and 4. I loved those seasons! Probably because I am a push over for a sad love story. I probably cried every episode! I would love to see them again and see how they make me feel now. I did think that Chad Lowe was very good and deserved his Emmy. I thought Kellie Martin deserved the Emmy, too. Funny that they both ended up on ER. I would have liked to have seen them on ER as their LIfe Goes On characters. Becca was going to be a doctor, she could have worked at the ER and Jesse could have been her husband and we could have seen how she dealt with his illness and death. Oh well.

Yeah I loved the show. I watched the show until the end, but it definately was better in the first seasons.
The thing I liked best about the show was that a main character had Down's Syndrome. My cousin has it, and with help she leads a productive adult life. But I never would have envisioned her in such an important role on TV; the media too often ignores those with mental and physical challenges. Besides, Chris Burke was a great actor on Life Goes On. The thing I liked least about the show was Patti LuPone. I don't know whether it was part of her role, but she was so freakin maudlin all the time! She should've been on Zoloft or whatever else they used back then...
I agree with most of the other posters on here....the show jumped the shark when Tyler died and the focus moved from Corky to the over-played Jessie and Becca saga. Becca and Jessie were interesting at first, but when they when every single episode started revolving around them, it got old. Still, all in all, it was a pretty good show.
I think the best episode was the one when Corky got tired of beating his meat while sniffing his sister's panties and he raped his mom. That image of him bending her over the kitchen table always gets me laughing! Too bad they didn't let her keep the baby, since it was born with two heads and wings. Oh wait...that was a dream. Nevermind.
I honestly don't know why they didn't just change the name of the show from "Life Goes On" to "The Dad Yells at Becca Show" those last couple of seasons!
You have to give credit to a show that took on not only one but two controversal issues. Especially back in the early 90's when AID's was becoming more heard of and awareness wasn't. Does anybody know if they plan to release anymore Season's?
The last episode bugged me. Years later Becca is in her living room with her husband and a young son and the son is named after the dead HIV positive boyfriend. I felt bad for her husband having to live in the shadow of a ghost.
JTS whenever Tyler was killed off and Becca got together with Jesse. Poor Becca had been chasing after Tyler for YEARS and when she finally lands him, she falls for Jesse and Tyler is killed. The show definitely tanked after that because the storylines shifted to Jesse and Becca all the time.
Although Chris Burke may have Down Syndrome, he blows my mind nonetheless. He is a heck of a good actor, and that Chad Lowe who played Jesse is one cute little devil!
Like a lot of others I think it jumped when the focus shifted away form Corky and onto the Becca/Jessie storyline. The challenges of everyday life for a person with Down Syndrome and their family was what made this show so special. By the way, for those of you who've commented on them naming their son Corky, they didn't. He's often introduced as Charles and Corky is obviously a childhood nickname that stuck (something that often happens in real life). I loved the first couple of seasons but once the focus shifted I didn't care as much about the show.
This show deserves accolades for its messages about living with Down Syndrome and HIV/AIDS. Too few shows tackle these topics even today. I was introduced to this series when I overheard some teenage students praising it and recommending it to each other (I am a school teacher in Australia) so this demonstrates that the show reached a wide and appreciative audience with its messages of compassion and respect.
