I remember an early episode in which the character of Fran was on a physicle fittness kick. After jogging her way to the Buchman's apartment, she bluntly said to both Paul and Jamie, "feel my ass"! After withstanding a small amount of embarrassment, both parties did as was requested and admired how tight and firm she had become. Years later, one of the major cable networks showed reruns of this sereis for a brief period. I wish it had been longer! In any event, in the commercials for this show, the announcer mentioned various things that the viewer might be mad about. These suggestions included the dog, learning new tricks, ect. At one point, he actually said "or you might be mad about 'Fran's tush'"! By the way, each one of these suggestions was accompanied by a visual aid and, in some cases some ad lib by the character. I think that while the announcer said this, Fran said something to the effect of, "there you go. What do you think?" I am going to have to admit that Fran's tush is certainly something that I am mad about!
Hey BOB MEL! John Pankow (who played Ira on M/A/Y) is brother of James Pankow, of the band CHICAGO.. There yuh go.
I really like the early episodes of this show. They were funny. Over the years though...Jamie became such a B****, and Paul never really seemed like a man. Does anyone remember when they went away for the weekend to the bed and breakfast and he kept looking for the button to push to start the fire?? What....he can't make an ACTUAL fire? What a sissy!
The guy that played Ira, was his brother in a famous band? I think that the band was around in the 70s. Little help on this please...Thanks.
Murray! The dogs name is Murray.
"Murray, get the mouse.... get the mouse Murray! C'mon....get the mouse..OUCH!

I've always liked the Thanksgiving episode in which they make like four or five different turkeys and have to keep running to the corner grocery for more. The dog (whose name I suddenly can't remember) ate one, Jayme threw another out the window and who knows what happened to the rest of the birds!!
Jaime became a bossy, mean, mega femme nazi. Like the way she used giving birth as a crutch. Like when Jaime forgot to change the toilet paper roll and Paul did the same thing to her that she did when she forgot to change the roll. And she was like, "I just gave birth". And then he asked her very nicely to stop off at the dry cleaners for him and she says, "I can't...I just gave birth!" I'm surprised they never did one where she asked Paul to whipe her nose..."Paul! I just sneezed and I need you to whipe my nose. I can't do it because I JUST GAVE BIRTH!!!" "Paul, I'm finished, could you whipe my tush?! I can't do it because I JUST GAVE BIRTH!!!" "Paul, I need you to feed me because I JUST GAVE BIRTH!!!" "You can't go to work today because I need you here with me because I can't do anything for myself being that I JUST GAVE BIRTH!!!"
I caught this show in reruns, and was enjoying it up until right about the time they started trying to get pregnant. Jamie seemingly never came down off her hormone high and remained a total b*itch for the rest of the series (apparently, I didn't watch anymore past the birth of Mabel). Now when you see Helen Hunt, she still has that mean, sour, pinched look on her face. What the hell happened to the cute and funny girl from Swiss Family Robinson, Rollercoaster, and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun? Not to mention the first couple seasons of Mad About You. She must have had some major life trauma to turn her so bitter so fast. Hope things get better for her.
Ugh...
Helen Hunt with her persnickety sourpuss and pinched nose is a major league emasculating beyotch.
Paul Rieser is a testicularly challenged nancy-boy.
What a pair!
The worst series ever made.

I would just like other fans to know that less than twenty-four hours ago, I picked up the third season DVD set at the local video store! I have already started watching the episodes. I would say that one of my favoritie episodes of the whole series is the one in which Jamie and Lisa accedentely switch purses! The indedents that they get into are "so" funny!
Well at first Jaime and Paul were adorable as a couple - compatable, fun-loving, equal...then after she got pregnant, Jaime became an overly bossy piece of sh*t!! She went from being as fun loving as Paul to always berating him for every little thing he did. If god forbid the situation was in reverse, the networks would be getting angry letters from feminists and women's groups up the whazzoo!!! There are entirely too many bossy women on TV noawdays. Commercials, TV shows...OYE!! "Frasier" is another example of this, with Niles and Daphne, where she even physically attacked him at times. There needs to be more balance in TV marriages and relationships. It can't always be one dominant figure and one submissive servent.
I thought the show did a good job of showing a relationship between a married couple. I happen to like Helen Hunt and appreciate the fact that you don't see her "antics" plastered all over ET. I thought Pay it Forward a was very good movie with a meaningful message. I hated when Jamie and Paul got divorced and I didn't like Mabel (Mother's always bring extra love - blick) young or old.
I found the show good overall. I liked the relationship and back and forth between Paul and Jamie. But I always felt very uneasy with all the other characters. Except fot the OBGYN guy who I thought had an effortless quirky delivery, all the others always seemed to be really overacting, trying real hard to steal some spotlight or something. In doing so, they all seemed very unnatural and ulitmately unbelievable.
