Mr. Bean never jumped! The show is so hilarious and Rowan Atkinson looks like a British Pee Wee Herman. What's great about the show is that the dialogue is sparse and slapstick is plentiful.
Never jumped! Mr. Bean was British comedy at its absolute best, along with Monty Python's Flying Circus, Blackadder, and more. The Mr. Bean movies weren't so great, though, but I don't really consider them canon.

Long live Rowan Atkinson!!
Blackadder was infinitely funnier. Any one show had more laughs than every Bean episode combined.
Well, I'm back. I recently saw Mr. Bean's Vacation. (Don't waste your time on it.) I think I watched 40 minutes of it before I laughed for the first time. There are a few salvageable moments; however. One is when Bean tries to confort the boy who gets separated from his dad. Bean does his usual "comedy" and instead of laughing, the kid slaps him. I would have done the same at that moment. Another is when Bean is hitchhiking across the (French?) countryside and tries to take off on the underpowered "motorcycle" (if you saw it, you'd understand the quotations) only to have the owner walk behind him and take it back. The last thing that saved this movie was the adorable actress that played Sabene. I'd definitely like to see her in more stuff. If the first Bean movie was a "C", I'd give this one a "D". Maybe Bean 3 will be the one. Me, I'll settle for Johnny English 2. Just make sure Natalie Imbruglia's in that one as well.
Rowan Atkinson is a great comedian and his Mr. Bean character is awesome. I loved every episode he's made. I can't say that I enjoyed the movie he's made. He is one of those characters you love to watch maybe for 30 minutes, with laugh tracks. Watching him on the big screen for over 90 min was too much for me.
From Slammerworm: You either loved this show or detested it. For me, 'Mr Bean's popularity was almost unfathomable; an infantile throwback to the silent film era, and an incredibly irritating one to boot. Oh, and that infernal over-stimulated laugh-track efficiently finished off any pleasurable content. Bean walks into a room; the laugh track goes nuts. He pulls a face; gales of hyperactive laughter. When he actually does something mildly amusing, you just want to get away from that ubiquitous, grotesque chorus of titter and guffaw.
My mom and I loved the show. I liked all of the episodes except for the golf one- it just wasn't that funny to me. The one that sticks out for me is the episode where he bought too much merchandise to get in his car. Cut to a scene later where he is driving his car around town sitting in a living room chair on top of his car, using rope and a mop. One of my other favorites is when he paints his apartment with (I think it was a cherry bomb in that can of paint). Liked where he met the queen. Loved his various running gags such as the padlock on the car, his teddy, the three-wheeled car, his girlfriend- there are so many. I didn't care for the Bean movie either, but Johnny English rocked. I don't think I will watch Bean 2, but I would love to see more episodes. Four more years! Four more years! (I'll settle for 12 new eps.)
To quote a person below...

"a definate classic of a show beacuse he is so insane and out of this world all the time its laugh worthy beacuse rowan atckinson splurts out in an hotel espiode his name is bean rember he is not allowed talk but even more beacuse
of his teddy bear and the way he talks to it even more hillarous beacuse itis so innoicent -his grudge against the realiant driver is due beacuse dosent this masochrist allways take his parking spot or its their for comical raelif "

Are you retarded or something? I am almost embarrassed to agree with you (that Mr Bean is funny) because I sense that your IQ is on par with Forrest Gump. Try spell check next time!!!!!
Simply hilarious. How could anyone say this show jumped after only 14 very funny episodes? (plus a few additional sketches).

Why on earth is Rowan Atkinson doing another Bean MOVIE?? I would rather him do a few more Bean television episodes rather than another full-length feature film.

That said, I will certainly go and see the Bean flick, just as I did the first movie 10 years ago.

According to recent interviews Atkinson has given, this new film is almost certainly Mr. Bean's swan song. The role is extremely physically demanding and Atkinson is getting up there in years. He rightfully does not want to drag the character on past its best-buy date. Oh well, British comedy is still alive and kicking - Catherine Tate, anyone?

Atkinson has absolutely no flair for slapstick clowning......he ougtha settle down to a pile of old Red Skelton or Benny Hill shows to see how it's REALLY done!! Atkinson's the kinda guy who wouldn't mind throwing a pie in someone's face, but who'd never take one himself.
The TV show itself never jumped. Each and every episode is pure classic. The Christmas episode is hysterical, heartwarming and even a little heart breaking! The Nativity set scene in that Christmas episode is fantastic! As to the movie: I was disappointed when I first saw it. However, I did purchase the movie, and on watching it a second time, found it deserved more credit than what I had initially given it. It's not a bad movie for introducing the concept to a "wide" American market. But as for the cartoon version... UGGHHH! Horrible! Terrible! The local PBS station ran it about a year ago. I had not heard anything about the cartoon series. I got my VCR all revved up and ready to go and starting taping. Incredibly disappointing. About halfway through the second episode, I stopped the VCR. The show was not worth taping. The character of Mr. Bean himself wasn't the same. Even though Rowan Atkinson was doing the voice, the character wasn't right. And as mentioned in a post above, the character now lived with a mean old landlady and her awful cat. It just simply wasn't funny. But, oh how I would absolutely love for Rowan Atkinson to bring the "live action" original character back for another half dozen episodes or so. The original "Mr. Bean" was absolutely fabulous!
This show NEVER jumped! Every single episode was hilarious and I, for one, LIKE the movie!!! Obviously, it's not going to be as good as the show, but it's decent in its own right. I hear Rowan Atkinson has plans to do ANOTHER Bean movie, which might change my vote here, unless NEW jokes are added!
There is no way Mr. Bean ever jumped the shark. That show freaking rules. I even bought an official Mr. Bean Teddy and brought it to the movie with me. I even bought it a ticket (should I have shared that?).
I have to say, I enjoyed Bean the movie, maybe it wasn't as clever as the TV show, but it was watchable. Until I found Mr. Bean, British comedy was summed up in 4 words "The Benny Hill Show". I loved Benny Hill and will still watch my DVD's of that fantastic show, but I never really enjoyed Monty Python, or other British comedy. My wife first discovered Bean and convinced me to watch. The first episode I saw had him wandering through a school destroying various educational exhibits. When he mistakenly enters an art class and a nude model sits for a pose, Bean's expression is classic. When a DVD set came out called "The Whole Bean" I picked it up right away. And unlike Benny Hill, my kids can watch and laugh at Mr. Bean too. I don't think the show jumped, but I have no desire to see a cartoon version of Bean.
