I'd rather watch people scraping their nails on a chalkboard than watch TPIR with Drew - just awful.
Drew is unbearable - atrocious at best.
- unfunny
- uncharming
- monotone
- unenthusiastic
- mumbles at times
- doesn't have perfect camera poise
I've definitely stopped watching this train wreck of a show. I just wish I had old episodes with Bob to watch to relive the glory days.

I think Drew is doing a helluva job on TPIR. I think he's having as much fun as the contestants!
Bob was and is a legend of daytime TV. I am so glad he retired on his terms rather than be forced out b/c of money, his age, or other nonsense.
TV folks have a tendency to try and "improve" things, yet they often wind up making things worse. To their credit, CBS and Fremantle kept the basics of TPIR and simply freshened up the bells and whistles.
Drew is a unique and personable choice as Bob's successor and I hope he remains on the show for years to come.
Only JTS possibility is if he takes the show on the road to Cleveland. j/k

Well, I guess it's time to say arrivederci to The Price is Right as we know it. As far as I'm concerned, with Roger gone, the show will never make it past 2009. It's so sad.
Most people online are saying the show has jumped the shark, because producer Roger Dobkowitz was fired by Fremantle, the show's owners.
He was a great producer, and he was part of the show for many years, helping it become an American instituition.
The show still can survive, but if they make it more like "Idol", then it will probably go off the air.

I have to ask DenoMatch, who the heck is Chris Mann? Why would anyone care what he has to say? I've never even heard of him. Who the heck cares if he writes a book? He's a nobody!
Well after watching tpir recently i can still say Drew still sucks. He still lacks enthusiasm. The way Drew looks like hes working long hours at a minimum wage paying fast food place. This man has no personality hes boring he messes up a lot.
It still surprises me to this day that they turned down John O'Hurley,Todd Newton,Mark L Wahlberg,Mark Steines,Rich Fields
For some Big Name Celebrity that doesn't care for the show. And just wants the big pay check
They would be better off canceling the show and reviving it in a couple of years.
Im sure theres going to be some upset Drew Carey Belly Rubbers

I miss Bob. But Drew has deffinately warmed up to the role. He's brought his own style to the show and is doing a great job.
Yeah, well they never had to advertise, yes advertise, the show with Barker. Hope Carey is paying you for babysitting this site, kissing his (let's say) ring, and re-writing your original post about 75 times to date. And shame on you for getting dirty - completely uncalled for.
Bob being mean to the models does not excuse the disaster Carey has made of this program. Doesn't wash pal. It's pathetic to see all the night-time attempts to keep this turkey afloat. It's going down, the advertisers are getting upset, and no neutral party sees anything but a once-good program going into the dumper.

To the guest who said Bob Barker WAS the show, I gotta ask you - are you serious? Yes, Barker acted liked he OWNED the show once he was promoted to executive producer, but there was no way in hell that he was the whole entire show - no way!
I know a lot of people blamed the models for all the problems that were on the show (aka 'modelgate'), but did you happen to think that it was Barker who caused it all in the first place? If Barker had kept his pants zipped in the first place, there would have been no 'modelgate' for us to speak of, and since we don't know all of Dian's story on the affair, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for now. As for Holly, she was fired simply for not lying for Barker in Dian's trial against him, not for being fat, or not getting along with the other staff members. As for Janice, and Kathleen, they were let go due to testifying in Holly Hallstrom's behalf in Barker's lawsuit against her, not due to their ages.
As for the announcers, Johnny O was 'the ultimate' announcer, as he could never be duplicated. "The illustrious one", Rod Roddy, was a worthy successor, and once again, he got his camera time taken away for having his agent negotiate with Barker to make sure that he and the models got the same pay for the nighttime specials - a hellva price that one was! Rich Fields is a nice guy, but announcer - no way! I thought that Burton ("ARSENIOOO HALL") Richardson would have been a far better replacement.
I gotta say that Drew is trying, and of course he is no Barker in the emcee department, but for being a co-worker, I'd want to work with him any day compared to the hell that the above models, Rod, former directors Marc Breslow and Paul Alter, and staff members Sharon Friem, Sherrell Paris, Linda Riegert, and Deborah Curling for all of the years Barker was in charge!
"The Price IS WRONG, Bob!"
The truth WILL be told when Chris Mann's book on the show comes out in the near future!

Am surprised to actually admit this, but Bob Barker WAS The Price Is Right. He was the show. Since I'm not a personal fan of his (the models thing turned me off big time), I just thought the show was the show... the games etc. NOT NOT NOT.
Carey is the pits. The few times I actually watch a small segment of the show (never more than 10 minutes), I find myself hitting "mute" when he speaks. When they proceed with the actual game, I un-mute. However I don't think any other host could carry this program. I mean, who cares whether someone you never met wins a car or not.
It was Barker - he WAS the entire show. They need to retire this turkey, while viewers still have fond memories of it. You know, the producers thought the games & contestants were the show also. That's why they miscalculated so BIG TIME in thinking they could pick any no-talent to host. BARKER WAS THE SHOW.

I'm going to be in an overwhelming minority for saying this, but the show jumped the shark when Johnny Olson died. The announcing job on TPiR was almost tailor-made for Olson. Neither Rod Roddy nor Rich Fields were terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but they were mediocre by Olson's standards.
Olson was the voice of The Price is Right.
