i use to love that show.
and ever since Dill and Kimmie came,
it got really dumb. i wish they
would have showed the old episodes
so maybe it wouldnt have been cancelled.
they only showed the newer ones after
a while. like a month ago, i was watching The Rugrats on VHS and there
was this part when there was iceskating
Reptar and the people were singing, "REPTAR REPTAR GOTTA FIND THAT REPTAR." haha. i loved that show.
I remember when dill came aroound the time of the movie I was still quite young then but even then I could tell the show wasnt as good, Dill didnt really do anything exept annoy/upset all the other charachters, and then when kimie or what ever her name was came I had stopped watching by then
I will ALWAYS love the rugrats, but I think it really jumped when they started really changing the drawings, but at like six years old I didn't relize anything, as long as I was laughing
I've been thinking about this for a while, and it was my favorite cartoon as a little kid, and I've come to realize that the real shark jump was not with Dil, but instead, when David Doyle died and they got Joe Alaskey to do Grandpa's voice. Now, Joe wasn't a bad voice actor (he was great as Plucky Duck on Tiny Toons!), but as Grandpa? No. He was too happy and complacent, whereas David had a definite cranky streak that suited the character. Like others have mentioned before, the coming-back of the show in 1997 was more dumbed-down and had fewer clever in-jokes, but it was the voice change that really signaled the beginning of the end.
i liked the movie a lot, i think it really jumped when that all grown up came it just went too far
Personaly, I thought kimi was unnesserary, it was nice to see Chuckie's dad get married but I don't think we needed Kimi, but it was All Grown Up that killed the show, like Dil changed from a cute little baby to stoner who belives in unicorns. and speaking of him Dil did not kill the show it was a mixture of Kimi and All Grown Up ya dil-haters
See, now, i liked Dil. I didn't think the show jumped there, allthough it did get different a lil bit. I also think that "All Growed Up"(the special) was brilliant, but "All Grown Up"(the show) killed it. They took it one step too far, and it was just stupid and unneccessary.
Definatly When Dil came along.

One thing I miss about the older episodes was when the Babies had all these adventures, seeing things through their eyes. Now Dil comes along, and the episodes were all about keeping Dil out of trouble, or watching Dill fart and poop every day.
I disagree with people saying Dil killed the show. He didn't really do much but there were times when he made me laugh. Kimi didn't kill the show either. It was sweet how she would help Chuckie through everything.
All Growed Up was a horrible, horrible mistake. I remember watching it on it's debut and thinking "This is a rip-off" then the spin-off show was totally retarted. Just a dumbed-down and age appropriate Degrassi. The babies were better. I love watching the older episodes. It was a cute show.
This show was funny and had good stories at the beginning but got tired after years on the air. The stories became really dull and stupid. Dil and Kimi were the last nails in Rugrats' coffin.
The Rugrats jumped when the writing got seriously dumbed-down. I miss the stuff that would have gone over a kid's head, like when Grandpa Boris wanted so much to escape Stu's lame home movies that he telephoned Dr. Kevorkian. Or when Chuckie got way too attached to a blow-up clown doll and Lil said a kid his age should be out playing with his friends, not 'alone in a room bopping his Boppo'. Baby Dyl was not funny and niether was Kimi. When a show as good as this one jumps the shark, it's just plain sad.
Growing up I loved watching this show. Hell I even had the video game. But Dill killed the show. Dill annoyed me beyond belief. And to make matters worse they added Kimmi. And what's the deal with Chuckie's dad marrying an Asian woman that he meets in Paria? I was just like wtf??? I loved Susie and how she stuck up for the babies when Angelica picked on them. I was sad to stop watching this show
I would love to say that Dill killed it, because he was a pretty terrible character, but all he did was make the show a hit-or-miss deal, because I do remember some great episodes that came after he showed up. The real death knell of the show was Kimi, not because she was a bad character, but because by that time, the show had done everything already and was recycling plots from the first season.

All Growed Up was the series' final gasp. It wasn't that bad, but it was completely unnecessary and really showed that Rugrats had run its course and was ready to die.
IM SORRY, BUT I THINK THIS SHOW WAS OVERRATED, THE PARTS WITH THE BABIES WERE OKAY, BUT I KIND OF THOUGHT THEY WERE BORING AND DIDN'T HAVE MANY JOKES BESIDES 'DIAPIE' AND 'SCEWDWIVER'. THE PARTS WITH THE ADULTS WEREN'T THAT FUNNY EITHER, AND JUST SEEMED RECYCLED (CHARLOTTE TALKING FOREVER ON HER CELL-PHONE, GRANDPA LOU FALLING ASLEEP ON THE BABIES, ETC). THE SHOW ALSO TOOK A NOSEDIVE WITH THAT DAMN DILL. HE WAS DEAD WEIGHT 'IMHO', AND WAS JUST STUPID.

I MUST ASK ONE THING, DIDN'T ANYONE EVER PAY ATTENTION TO THE BABIES? I MEAN, NOBODY EVER NOTICED THAT THEY ESCAPED THE PLAYPIN, OR TRIED TO STOP THEM (LIKE TRING TO BLOCK THE DOOR TO THE PLAYPIN) AND DIDN'T ANYONE EVER HEAR THEM SCREAMING/CRYING (OBIOUSLY TO THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS), AND ALL THE NOISE THEY MADE (ESPECALLY CHUCKY), AND EVER CHECK ON THEM? YOU KNOW, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A CARTOON, THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT, CONSIDERING THE PULLED STUFF LIKE TVS AND STUFF DOWN OFF THE TABLE ON TO EACH OTHER. SAD TO SEE THAT STEW AND DEEDEE AND ALL THE REST MAY HAVE BEEN NO SO GOOD PARENTS (I GUESS I WONT BASH DEE DEE, SHE WAS READIN DR LIP-SH*T (SP?) BOOKS TO RAISE TOMMY ON).
I was starting to get out of the cartoon phase when this show came on but I will say that this signaled the end of Nickelodeon. The cartoons were so good, but then the network was filled with such crap as this, Doug, and Ren and Stimpy. And I'm sorry, but Angelica is a SOCIOPATH and a horrible influence on little kids. And for the record, I am not one that would normally say that about any show.
