For me, 'Best of Soul Train' JTSed because they won't show any episodes featurin' the Gap Band, THE singularly funkiest band of the late '70s & '80s. Peace.
To Tracey: No blacks I know come from Africa. They're all from the US. If you really are black, say 'black,' In the words of the late James Brown, 'You're black, and you're proud.' Peace.
Hey gang:

You know I think "soul train" was the all time show back in the day. My sisters and I lived for it to come on Saturdays just so we could dance. Our parents were kind of strick on us so the only entertainment we had was "soul train". The show started to come on at 10:30 on Saturday nights and we would literally dress up as if we were on the show and dance better the dancer on TV.

I think they should get in touch with everyone in this forum and invite them to the making of "Soul Train the Movie".
soul train was great to watch growing up as an african american kid. though i loved american bandstand and wonderama(do any of you remember that show), here were not enough people like me shown on those shows. soul train let me see that we did exist, were better dancers til the early 90's and i was happy to see it. as for lip syncing, early on don cornelius gave the artist a choice on wheter they wanted to sing live or lip sync and most chose lip syncing. the best of soul train comes on in l.a. at 2 a.m. and i record it to watch with my son who laughs at the way we dressed in the 70's.
Please list the names of the songs The Soul Train Gang released.... Is "Searching for another Dream" one of them???
it's never gonna come out on dvd. why? music license. don c. production would have to shell out so much money for it. read about the problems that "wkrp in cincinatti" had with the dvd release. all the original music was removed due to the expense of music license. miami vice was an exception simply because universal thought it wouldn't have been right to remove the original tunes. i think they forked over $2 million for the rights. so the only thing you can hope for if you really want old soul train episode is to find someone who has a huge soul train collection or more realistic, hope that another distributor will pick up soul train for many more years of "best of soul train".
im jus so glad that they are playing the best of soul train dats my favorite show of all time esoecially back in the day so i hope they continue to play it and please hope they can get it on dvd where as though we can go to the stoere to but it insted on e-bay peolpe dont like that so keep up the good work and let people know when can we start buying it in stores
soultrain needs to be rlease in stores for peolpe to buy instead on e-bay it can make lots of money im a huge soul train fan all the luck to don cornelius
I remember Soul Train before it went National. It was in Chicago and the first host was Clint N Gent a couple of years later came Don Cornelious. It was really good then. It was done as a local show . Before it was Soul Train it was The Big Bill Hill SHow that was the early 70's. Brings back memories
Jumped when Don Cornelius lost his fro.....
only fantasia actually sang
Does anyone know where Pat Davis grew up? Was it in L.A. or elsewhere?
Well, 1-5-08's come and gone. There're no new 'Soul Train' eps.. Best of 'Soul Train's' still on. If they never had another new episode on, that'd be fine with me, but they've gotta dig more into the archives. I've seen the current crop of 'Best ofs' already. Give us more of the best that we haven't seen yet, DC Productions! Peace.
Does anyone have contact information for ANY of the ORIGINAL Soul Train Dancers (AKA The Soul Train Gang)? Damita Joe? Fawn Quinones? Tex? The "Asian Lady" with the bone-straight hair down to her butt? Perhaps that elederly lady or gentleman who lives next door to you was an ORIGINAL dancer on the show? Well, I'd like to send him/her a personal 'Thank You' note for impacting my childhood in such a profound way. CALLING ALL ORIGINAL DANCERS!!!! Please respond to: emailsean1@gmail.com. Rock Steady, Baby...
