Jumped when the kid's girlfriend got pregnant. Show was ruined for me. Why oh why do they always think that baby making and the subsequent birth is the answer? Seems to me it almost always never works. Other than that, I thought the hubby and wife were a cute couple and the kids were alright.
I completely agree with Noel. It is a good show and no one seems to remember that. And the old Claire sucked monkey balls. Franklin rocks, I loved it when Junior's GF got pregnant, the Raven episode rocked and "Uuuuh, nuh" is the greatest TV quote on earth
This show is tied with Martin for the dishonor of being the most stupid, outrageous, unrealistic, whiny portrayal of African Americans. Jay ia absolutely repulsive - a stupid, emotional, irrational, control freak who's married to an almost-idiotic husband. How the actress (if you can call her that) who plays Jay can stand being known for playing this type of woman is beyond me (unless they are so like her that she doesn't see how playing them degrades the public's perception of her). The story lines were inane, and the cast was marginal at best. That this show made it into production, let alone prime time proves the network execs must be brain-dead. This show jumped the shark in the first episode.
love it. jumped when jr's girl was knocked up and aggravating mess of a child Franklin was there. but its great.
Personally I like the new Claire waaay better than the old one...she was really unlikeable in my opinion, had a horrible attitude, no chemistry with the rest of the cast and couldnt act at all. Whether or not colour had anything to do with it, taking those factors into consideration, is irrelevant. I think the new Claire fit much better into the family and their chemistry on the whole was great.
now FRANKLIN: soooo annoying...and i hate how he and Katie's 'relationship' evolved...they were a little too grown for me (and she was a little too grown for him...lol).
All in all I loved the show though, had some off moments but it was nice and entertaining. Wouldnt buy the box set but hey...

I swear. all u guys r soooooo lame. its a show for goodness sake. just let them be the judge & do what they want to do. it makes me laugh and many more people. find something better to do than sit and criticize other people. yeah! they may not have done the best job from it, but they tried. GET A LIFE AND LEAVE THE DAMN SHOW ALONE!!
you should be ashamed. the whole lot of you.

to Patti the poster below Tisha Campbell had just came back from maternity leave that's why she gained so much weight.
So when Jay came back from California after being there for some time helping with her ill mother, she put on weight. Was that weight real or was it a "costume" used for the story line? I just have been curious, especially seeing the reruns of those episodes all over again!!!
Well, Claire got a different actor, since the mother of the original actor didn't like the idea that she'd have to perform in the episode where Claire was confronted with the pregnancy of her best friend. It's on Wikipedia somewhere... Hell, they even mentioned the change in the show itself when she appeared for the first time.
"Does Claire seem a little different today?"
I personally love the show, watching Junior has set a new boundary for "the dumb character" to me.

Why did they change Claires? Did they think the 1st one, who was darker skinned, with shorter hair and younger wasn't as attractive or something? It was really confusing to me.
I was a master control operator at a TV station that showed this in reruns. Didn't laugh once, though I did wince multiple times per episode. Duh. That Junior's so stoopid, he can't count to three. Ho! Ho!. That's clever writing!
The show jumped as soon as Jr got his girlfriend pregnant. It went from a smart entertaining show to just downright stupid and annoying. From this point
Jr went from a dim kid to just boderline retartded.
J spent most or her airtime just doing that annoying laugh after Wayans would make a joke.
Franklin was obviosly a "cute" replacement for Katie and couldn't deliver a line without making me cringe (I know he's young and has improved in the series of Heroes fair play to the lad.)
Someone touched upon this, it went that the woman in the series went stuck up and the men lost there backbone. ie creating a day so they could get gifts and the line where Franklin is eating cobbler or something and the little brat Katie (or Kadie) say "you're saying no... to me." In earlier episodes Micheal had a backbone and was leader of the house keeping authority in a very funny way.
Shame it went downhill as I really enjoyed the earlier episodes.

I actually enjoyed this series despite my expectations. I actually enjoyed Damon Wayan's character and I loved Franklin -he was hilarious!. He had some of the best lines in my opinion.
Junior's character could be somewhat annoying from time to time and a bit too stupid even for comedic value and I found the wife and mother VERY annoying on quite a frequent basis. But otherwise it was a frequently entertaining show
