One of the first "adult shows I can remember watching. I loved it because, well it was cops, and what little kid doesn't like cops. The younger partner took over as a grown boxy when Apollo left Battlestar Galactica.
"One Adam 12...One Adam 12...see the man, 503 Sycamore Street about child with kite stuck in tree."
Totally boring crimes, but I still like to watch it.

Never jumped. I loved this show even though it was real corny. I always liked the way Reed and Malloy handeled everything themsleves. Who needs back-up when Adam-12 is on the job. There was one episode when a cop was shot by a baricaded suspect. They got on the radio and there were extras comming out of the woodworks, but it seems all they got to do was direct traffic while Adam-12 talked the suspect out and rescued the shot officer.
Never jumped! Got a little repetitious, looked a little cheap, but Universal in the 60s & 70s was a tacky place at times. Best 'beat cop' show until Hill Street, NYPD Blues, then High Incident in the 90s.
Never, ever, ever, ever even came close to jumping. If Adam 12 isn't the best cop show ever, it's in the top 3.
As far as I know adam-12 was required watching in police academies to learn how to drive and use the car the right way
When I started noticing that the cruiser's windshield had been removed to cut glare, leaving the wipers sitting well up onto the dashboard.
Adam-12 never jumped. As the seasons progressed you saw some of the changes in the series such as the vehicles and the uniforms, but the show never made any serious casting or plot blunders that spelled the death knell for it. The only reason it ended in 1975 was that Jack(Webb) saw there was a possible profit in having the show syndicated. It's everything that I wish some modern cop shows could be.
I can recall watching Adam-12 back in my youth, and years later, on VHS. I still think highly of the program, and there have been a few instances where I wonder what I would have done if I were a police officer, thanks to Adam-12.
I have been a police officer since 1986! Malloy and Reed inspired me, Adam-12 was my soooo favorite show growing up, I am now 45!!
i watched adam 12 as a child, along with dragnet and emergency.all were great in their time, but they had not been shown in my area(metro atlanta)since emergency ended in 77 i think.i bought the first season of each on dvd and was surprised how good and relevent they were-even over 30 years later.shows like hill street blues, nypd blue, the various law and orders,er,third watch, the shield and rescue me all have taken cues from those old jack webb shows and are directly decended from them.
Someone stated that his clock radio would wake him up to hear Martin Milner on a radio fishing show and that "lo how the mighty have fallen (sigh)." Well, just to let you know he used to do radio acting back in the 1950's with Jack Webb. He was on Dragnet. He also did some radio in the 1980's too. He is also a skilled fly fisherman. So it was only natural for him to do a radio talk show about fishing. That doesn't mean his career tanked, it means that it was a great job for a working actor to take to ease into retirement. The show was and is very popular and wins big ratings. Martin Milner may have caught the shark, but he never jumped it!
